Programs for Monthly Meetings

The January program will be put on by Precision Blade and Tool from Morrison, TN. The owner, Doug Walston, has arranged for Lenox Tools to do a program on their woodworking products. The last time Doug had Lenox in was a smashing success. Don't miss this one!

The February program is scheduled to be on Shaker Boxes by Tim Arnold. Tim has displayed at TACA for years and will bring to our meeting a detailed layout of boxes in progressive stages of construction. He will bring examples of some of his work to illustrate the various implementations of his boxes for example: boxes with handles and music boxes.

March Program -- Anthony Watts will present "18th Century Woodworking Tools" taking us back to our roots, or at least part way back. Anthony is our VP and a practitioner of the use of hand tools in his Windsor Chair construction.

April's Program will feature Alf Sharp who will present "18th Century Southern Furniture". Alf Sharp is a renowned woodworker with many projects completed and is no stranger to our Club. He was part of the Capital Reconstruction project in Nashville and has reproduced antique furniture for a living. He lives and works in Woodbury, TN. His website is http://www.alfredsharp.com/ .

At the May meeting we will focus on the Exhibit to be scheduled for some time in 2009. Details on how members can participate will be discussed. Rules and procedures will be outlined. We'll review background on previous exhibits using a video so that members will know what to expect. This program will be interactive so that members can participate in the evolution of the program. The June program will be given by Bob Reese. He will be discussing woodworking problem solving with jigs. He will relate a number of jigs that he has used in his violin building process.

Change! Tom Cowan will do the July program. He will be speaking on arts & crafts furniture and discussing some of the inspiration that he draws from having a family legacy that has been associated with this period of furniture making.
Alan Hale will be the speaker for the August program. He is an engineer with ATA at AEDC and is also does goat farming. He has a number of creative ways to fell trees safely and accurately. Some of these techniques include the use of wedges and even a bow and arrow with string attached to get leverage on a specific limb.

Doyle McConnell will be the September speaker. He will show and discuss his techniques for nested bowl turning.

October Program -- John Jordan will speak on his turning methods and designs. John is an accomplished woodturner and speaker who works out of Antioch, TN. You can see his site at www.johnjordanwoodturning.com
November Program -- Greg Pennington Finishing techniques with milk paint
December Program -- Super Show and Tell (Everyone brings a Show & Tell of any sort -- could be your first project, your latest project, or something in between. Maybe your best ever project or worst ever. Something you bought, stole, got as a gift. Bring something and show it.)

Tom Church will be speaking in January about using thermally reactivated glue for veneering, a process he is currently experimenting with.
