Coming Club Events
In
an executive session on January 22, 2008, the Executive Committee set
these tentative dates for the Club's 2008 events. Firm dates and
times, as well as event details, will be published here and in
Splinters as they evolve.
May 3 -- Spring Seminar
June
7 -- Picnic -- The picnic will be held at Falls Mill again this year.
Contact Vince Zaccardi [ vinzac@bellsouth.net ] or
(931)
455-4148 for details. There will be a pot luck dinner and an
auction to benefit the Club's treasury. Bring something you made
if possible or something related to woodworking if not, but bring
something for the auction.
June 14 -- Turning Bee at Tom Cowan's Shop -- Turning Bee coming up on June 14: The
turning bee is an informal get together by some turners and some
wannabee turners. The objective is to make some free instruction and
hands-on experience available to members and guests who wouldn't
otherwise be able to get it. There will be several lathes and
experienced turners in Tom's shop to provide an experience for
everyone. The focus will be on turning greenwood bowls, but there will
be some spindle turning going on as well. Bring your brownbag lunch
and join the fun. The session will be held at Tom Cowan's shop
at 4085 Williams Cove Road, Winchester, TN 37398. To get to Tom's
shop: Starting at the intersection of the new US-64 and US-41A, go
east on 41A toward Cowan, TN for 0.1 miles (you'll see the Winchester
airport on your left). Now turn RIGHT onto Williams Cove Road and go
3.8 miles (stay on Williams Cove Road all the way). Tom's home and
shop are on the left.
September 15 -- 20 Coffee County Fair
November 7 and 8 -- TVW mini-Exhibit at Foothills Crafts'
December 5 -- The Club's annual Christmas party and pot-luck
dinner will be held on Friday December 5 at the Church of the Nazerene at 501
Cumberland St. Decherd. Cumberland St. is across highway 41A from the Co-op
in Decherd and the church is 6/10ths of a mile from the intersection of
Cumberland/Bible Crossing/ and Highway 41A. Click here
for a map of the area.
The festivities will begin at 5:30 PM and we'll
eat at 6:00. Don't forget, each person is to bring a gift for the drawing. The
gift can be anything, but woodworkers like woodworking stuff and really like something made
by another woodworker, so try to bring something you made. Non-woodworking
attendees can bring something their spouse made or . . . just
something.
Mary Cowan is the chair
person.
2009

awareness. Stay tuned here
and in Splinters for the details as they evolve. The anme of the exhibition is "In the Spirit of Fine Woodworking".
